Actor Nagarjuna Responds to Demolition Controversy

Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has publicly addressed the recent demolition of his N-Convention centre in Hyderabad, calling the move "unlawful" and urging the public not to believe exaggerated rumors. The demolition, executed by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection agency (HYDRAA) on August 24, prompted Nagarjuna to seek an immediate stay from the High Court, which was granted later that evening.

Clarification on Encroachment Allegations

Since the demolition, speculation has arisen suggesting that the N-Convention centre was built on encroached land, particularly near a lake. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Nagarjuna refuted these claims, stating, “News about celebrities can often be exaggerated and speculated for effect.” He clarified that the land for the convention centre was legally acquired with proper documentation, and emphasized that no part of the land was encroached upon. Nagarjuna referenced a court ruling that affirmed the land was not encroaching on Tummidikunta Lake.

 Legal Battle and Public Statement

Nagarjuna expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner of the demolition, claiming that he was not given any notice before the action was carried out. He described the demolition as contrary to existing stay orders and court cases, asserting his willingness to comply with the law and abide by court decisions. He also criticized the demolition as a violation of legal procedures, stating, “If the Court had decided against me, I would have carried out the demolition myself.”

 HYDRAA's Position

HYDRAA, however, defended its actions in a press statement. The agency cited concerns over unchecked encroachments in and around Tummidikunta Cheruvu, which have led to serious waterlogging issues in the area. They accused the N-Convention centre of manipulating systems and continuing unauthorized commercial activities in the floodplain and buffer zones.

 Future Steps and Public Appeal

With the interim stay in place, Nagarjuna has called for the public to refrain from speculation and misinformation. He reiterated his commitment to legal processes and urged people to await the court's final judgment. The N-Convention centre, known for hosting high-profile events in Hyderabad, continues to be a focal point of legal and public interest.
